Fibrinogen Quantitative

Code
CT365
Results
1-2 Days
Country
CA
Container
Citrated plasma (or filled blue top)
Specimen
0.5 mL citrated plasma
Description
This test is used to measure the concentration of functional fibrinogen in the plasma. Low fibrinogen concentration can be caused by DIC or liver failure, heparin treatment, congenital deficiency of fibrinogen, and abnormal fibrinogen. Fibrinogen is an "acute phase protein," and elevated fibrinogen concentrations are commonly used in horses as an indirect indicator of inflammation

FIP 7B ELISA

Code
CT605
Results
2-4 Days
Country
CA
Container
Serum in red top or serum separator
Specimen
0.5 mL serum
Description
This test detects antibodies directed against strains of feline coronavirus that are reported to be more likely to cause FIP. However, a positive antibody titer is not specific to FIP disease, and a negative titer does not exclude the possibility of FIP.

FIP mRNA PCR

Code
CT600
Results
5-10 Days
Country
CA
Container
Call customer service for specimen handling protocol: 1-800-872-1001, dial 0
Description
This PCR test detects mRNA of the M gene of all known feline coronavirus strains in any sample. However, for diagnosis of FIP, only the detection of mRNA outside of the intestinal tract is indicative since active replication of the virus in circulating mononuclear cells is typical for FIP.
